The Wall Gallery features in August, new work from Lincoln photographer
Michael E. French.
The
exhibition will be on display August 5-31, with an opening reception
Friday, August 5, 2011 from 6 to 9 pm. Michael will be

questions.
Michael E. French has dedicated the past nine years to the
exploration of nature through the lens of his digital camera. In this
time, he
has amassed thousands of photos from which he has developed six
distinct photo series.
The 9natura exhibit represents the best of these series, as well as
some
complimentary new works. These photographic series are to be archived
later
this year as Michael shifts his creative focus to illustration and
music.
“The
Ninesight Series One” is a study in compliments and
contrasts achieved through the careful arrangement of multiple photos
into a
single art piece. The ever-evolving shapes and textures of trees and
clouds are
the dominant images in this series. The “By Request” series is a
collection of
evocative images of rural life, captured on a single day, which the
artist’s
father requested for print. “Frozen Sculpts” is a series of abstract
sculptures
of ice and snow arranged and photographed by the artist. It is a
meditation on
the impermanence of nature’s art and an exploration of light and
shadow. The
“MEF Series” collects some of the artist’s favorite images captured
over the
past nine years. The final, as yet untitled series captures images of
the
artist’s daughter at play in compositional experiments designed to tell
a free
narrative.
