Against the Wall Gallery Presents:
Mixed Media, Paintings & PhotographyAug. 3rd 31st, 2007 Opening Reception: Friday, Aug. 3st 6-9 p.m. |
DUET II: Double
Visions is an artistic, collaborative
event featuring work developed jointly by painter Robert
Esquivel and photographer Ronda Esquivel, who have been
married for 35 years. This is a continuation of efforts
that began last year in creating art together. The images
are proof that they are truly a team working
on a singular vision. Between Roberts vibrant
and strong use of color and line and Rondas
impeccable composition, lighting and mood the synthesis
is seamless. The show will feature hand painted photographs in a variety of mediums with a wide range of subject matter. Additionally, both artists will have their individual work on display. Their first show, Duet, debuted in September 06 here at Against the Wall with great success and we hope it's even better this year. Please join us for a month of enjoying Robert and Rondas artistic insights. Against the Wall Gallery is open Mon., Wed., Fri. and Sat. 10 to 5 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 7 pm. We are located in Lincoln's Historic Havelock area at 6220 Havelock Avenue. For further information, please contact us at (402) 467-3484 or e-mail us at u a t w (at) a l l t e l (dot) n e t . |

About
the Artists: Ronda Esquivel has been making award winning photographic images for 18 years. "I don't like to be pigeon holed into any one specific style or photographic medium. I find my images in all kinds of places and translate them into photographs through whatever style or photo-technique the subject speaks to me in." Ronda's work includes portraiture, still life, Southwestern landscapes, and the unusual and overlooked in everyday life. Her color, black and white and hand color-tinted photographs have been featured in national magazines, in public and private collections, on CD and cassette covers, used as the basis of theatrical sets, and of course hung in local and regional galleries including the Haydon and University Place Galleries. For 10 years, Ronda served as the official photographer for the Star City Parade. She has been featured in personal and group shows at The Surya Gallery, Gallery Nine, The Noyes Gallery, The Lawrence Ennersen Gallery, The Marxhausen Gallery at Concordia University and the Lincoln Artist's Guild Gallery, the Artist's Coop and 13th Street Galleries in Omaha. Robert Esquivel "I have always had a love affair with color. Maybe its my Hispanic background, maybe it was all those brightly colored crayons I ate when I was growing up. Whatever it was, My work in whatever medium is a celebration of color. I cant say that I specialize in any one subject or any one technique. I find that life is too short to miss a creative opportunity, too long to limit ones expression and too wide to see everything at a single glance. I try to express in my work wherever I happen to be in my lifes journey and as is not surprising, it seems to touch a common chord in most viewers since in the end, we are all travelers on the same road." Robert holds a BFA from the University of Nebraska. He currently holds representation at Uni-Place Art Gallery, Milestone Gallery & Gallery 9. Past exhibitions have included Gallery Nine, Lincoln / Noyes Gallery, Lincoln /Haydon Gallery, Lincoln/ Marxhausen Gallery, Seward / Lawrence Enersen Gallery, Lincoln Community Playhouse, Lincoln / Finlyns Gallery, Lincoln / Milestone Gallery, Lincoln./ Cathedral Art Show, 2002, 2003, 2004 Lincoln. / Wyuka Invitational, third prize 2002, /Wells Fargo Bank, Lincoln. / Westgate Bank, Lincoln. / Food For Thought featured artist, University Place Gallery 2003/Member Artist Gallery 9 |
