Why art?...If I knew how to do anything else I would but art is what I can get away with....

My work has been collected and archived by everyone from Ramblin' Jack Elliot to Tom Brokaw, the Smithsonian and LA Craft & Folk Art Museum, to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. The masks are a ever evolving endeavor that sprang from a dream. Right now I am completing a Buffalo for the board room at Cherapa Place in Sioux Falls ( a new Green Building on the Skyline.) I like to keep it light life's hard why make it harder. I do art because I always have .

I’ve been working with sculpture for the past 25 years, learning as I go. Printmaking was my primary interest when I started art school  in 1964. That was replaced by painting  and  also ceramics, but my fingers were always in the printer’s ink.

In 2002-03, I took the opportunity to do experimental printmaking as independent study at the University of Massachussetts, Amherst where the facilities are extensive.  At the same time, I learned welding and extended my sculptural capabilities.

The goal of these works on paper was to learn, and partially invent, a way of expressing some delicacy of line and color which I couldn’t get into my sculpture. The two media are both very physical, each allowing me to exercise my muscles as well as my expressive intent.

The prints are rather like color schematics of the sculptural style.

Art is the philosophy for my life. It’s really not even about art but about the creative spirit I believe is a part of every human’s spiritual foundation. I choose that part of my fundamental being to be at the fore front of my life as it encompasses so much that is important to my being.

Creativity is spirituality. It is the ultimate form of worship and the sacred expression of who I am. After all I am the result of a creative process, so shouldn’t I give back what is given to me?

Creativity is flow. Awareness of what is around and within me every second of every hour of every day. It’s only because of this I can know those demons and angels locked within me, let them out and be able to navigate through my journey here, in peace.

Creativity is consciousness. By knowingly choosing my expressiveness and using the ideas, techniques and knowledge of materials that I have accumulated throughout my life, I can manifest a spiritual form into a tangible form.

Most of all creativity is about love. The conscious flow of spirituality is my love for art. I have learned that love is giving without any expectations, sacrifice, and willingly sharing myself with humanity.
