Against The Wall Gallery welcomes back to our space local photographer Wayne Hathaway and a collection from his recent book entitled "A Day at the Lake". The exhibition will be on display September 3-30 with an opening reception on Friday, September 3rd, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm.
Wayne’s self-published book came out this summer and chronicles a year of visiting Holmes Lake park here in Lincoln. Nearly every day for a year, before he had to be at work, he was out at the lake and the entire park, including the golf course. It is a stunning guide to what you can see if you spend some time at any one place, even an urban park such as Holmes. Thumbing through the book, you have the sense that you are somewhere else, somewhere like a far off wildlife preserve out in the country. In the book you will find several species of duck, muskrat, herons, pelicans and even a family of fox as well as stunning landscapes.

Although not a native Nebraskan, Wayne Hathaway has lived in the rural Nebraska setting for many years, now in Sterling, developing a love for the nature that is unique to this area. He has combined his talent as a photographer with his dedication to the preservation of threatened and endangered species. Much of Wayne’s focus falls on these fragile species. Living far from the cities in Southeastern Nebraska he has the opportunity to witness wildlife first-hand and many of the scenes you'll see in his photos are captured in his back yard. Wayne works at Rockbrook Camera in Lincoln.
