A very esoteric bicycle term,
Dead Center Eccentricity defines the moment when a
bicycle pedals power potential is at its
peak, at the very pinnacle of its stroke. In the
context of this show though, it more thoroughly defines
the mindset of the Rat Bike movement. Eccentricity. Bikes
pulled apart and reconfigured. Bicycles brought back from
the dead. Steel and rubber and rust. Twisted.
Hacked. Zombified. These mad local
artisans resurrect these old bikes creating odd,
hilarious, dangerous, yet ride-able creations that border
on "art". Most of the artists
represented ride their creations every Sunday from
Recycled Bike Shop here in Lincoln The Sunday Rat
Ride. Some of the eccentrics displaying their madness in
June will be: Scott Grossenbacher, Brook Taylor,
Elizabeth Snuttjer, Kelley Smith, Phil Burcher, Daniel
Kelly, Stephan Storonskij, Bryan Mack, Rachel Mack,
Carlton Styron, Pepe Fierro and Louis FrantiŠ. |
