| Eileen Bergts interests,
reflected in her pottery, include Historic
Preservation and Japanese Design. She has
pottery made on the wheel but her favorite
technique is hand-building pieces from extruded
clay. The clay works of Nancy
Fairbanks span a broad spectrum
of styles from her contemporary sculptures to
primitive pit fired vessels. Methods
include Native American pit firing, and Japanese
Raku. Nancy creates unique decorative and
functional pottery at her rural Grand Island, NE
studio.
Pam Huckins says,
It begins with a lump of clay and an idea.
Each step is vital, through the wedging,
throwing, forming, and altering. I love to test
the limits and see how far I can stretch or alter
the piece Im working on. Pam also
works from many different styles.
Carol Proud -
For me, pottery pulls it all together
the purely tactile pleasure of soft clay
sliding through my hands on the wheel & the
smooth, cool feel of leather-hard porcelain
the hard science of glaze formulation and
manipulation
the challenge of a skill
never quite mastered
and of course that
Christmas-morning feeling of mystery and magic
whenever I open a just-fired kiln!
Juanita Williamson -
Juanita started her art career as a child on a
farm. The farm cats loved to sit still for a
child artist. She then moved on to watercolor and
oil paintings. Juanita has made porcelain dolls
and loves to paint floral designs on china plates
and vases. She has been working out of Kathleen
Grossmans pottery studio (Down Under
Pottery) for the past 5 years.
